Shimano CUES to replace cheaper 9,10,11 groupsets ?

Casual cyclists will know choosing a Shimano bike part is ultra-confusing, with so many group names.

(e.g. Acera, Alvio, Altus, Claris, Tourney and the rest) 

Finally it seems Shimano are replacing most of the bottom range groupsets with 1 groupset that will be interchangeable (so it doesn't matter too much what you buy. It will fit).

some cheaper 9 / 10 / 11 gear groupsets will be replaced by Shimano Cues

MTB range first in 2023 ?

Bikeradar says the first to be replaced with Cues is the 3 MTB entry-level groupsets.

Alivio, Acera, Altus.

Road bikes entry-level in 2024 ?

Word seems to be the road bike entry-levels (& a bit higher) will go in 24.

Claris, Sora, Tiagra

Word is Tourney will remain ? 

Dunno about the Gravel range.

Waterproof ? The bags imply to me they are waterproof (the zips seem so), but there's no mention of waterproof, so I can't be sure. I will find out soon !

Hi-viz stripes ? both have.

They also do a small Saddle Bag at £3.99

Frame bag 

looks to be around 1.5L size. I got it to fit but yet to try outdoors.

Phone bag 

looks useful but I can't get it to fit tight on my top tube. 

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. 

Bike brake and derailleur cable : the difference

 in general :

derailleur cable : 

thinner. more agile.

head : smaller (to go in shifter). upright barrel shape. sometimes mushroom (shimano).

there's 3 main head types :

generic type (small barrel shape) . should fit all types ?

shimano : mushroom shape.

campagnolo : dunno ? niche ? 

brake cable :

thicker. tougher (for safety !)

head : bigger. side barrel
