BTWIN Fit 500 Road Bike |
BTWIN bikes seem to be a Decathlon brand, and I have only seen them in a Decathlon store. There is a cheaper 'entry level' bike (the 300 ?) but it looks a bit too wimpy to me. Decathlon seem to market road bikes with flat bars as 'fitness road bikes'. I don't use a pannier etc, so for me a 'fitness road bike' is an ideal base for a commuter bike. I am a bit confused as to the name of this bike as the name in the shop (BTWIN Fit 500) seems to differ from what I believe is the bike on the website (BTWIN Velo Route 5)
My basic idea of a commuter bike is a road bike with customized changes for comfort etc (the basic starting point would be a road bike with a very adjustable flat bar, particularly for height adjustment)
Things I like about the BTWIN Fit 500 :
Nice looking
Solid quality bike frame and parts
Very adjustable handlebar stem
Inexpensive for the quality
Good commuter toe grips
Things I would change :
Add a chainguard
Add a rear mudguard
Add hi-viz stickers
Change seat to a 'fatter comfier' version (though seat looks decent)
Change seat stem to a suspended seat stem
Possibly add grip bars in the middle of the flatbar rather than at the ends
Add a rearview mirror
Add lights
